As promised, I'm back with the tutorial for the interactive Birthday Card that I showed you yesterday.

Hacemos rotar el disco dentado para revelar el sueño que está teniendo ese conejo tan lindo... El mecanismo no podría ser más sencillo y los que me seguís, me lo habéis visto usar en otras ocasiones, por ejemplo para estas dos tarjetas. Haciendo clic en ellas, podréis ver los tutoriales correspondientes.
We make the disk rotate to reveal what that adorable bunny is dreaming about... The mechanism couldn't be easier and the followers of my blog know that I've used it several times, for example in these two cards. If you click on any of them, you can visit the corresponding tutorials.
Vamos al lío. Yo he usado los siguientes materiales, pero siempre podréis adaptar el tutorial a lo que tengáis disponible... por ejemplo el protagonista no tiene porque estar dormido/a y si vais a estampar sentimientos pequeños, no haría falta usar un disco ni una nube tan grandes como los que usé yo.
Let's get down to business. I used the following material, but you can always adapt the tutorial to fit your materials... for example the main character doesn't have to be sleeping and if you plan on using smaller sentiments, you don't need such a large cloud or circle die.
- un disco de cartulina de 11,4 cm de diámetro de alto gramaje blanca (yo usé la de 297gms de Neenah que admite muy bien los rotuladores con base de alcohol) / a circle that measures about 4 1/2" in diametre cut out of white heavyweight cardstock (I used Neenah 110lb which is also perfect for Copic colouring)
- un cuadrado de cartulina de alto gramaje de aprox. 12,5 cm x 12,5 cm. Yo elegí el tono "Surf Blue" de Simon Says Stamp. / A square panel that measures about 5" x 5". I chose the tone "Surf Blue" by Simon Says Stamp.
- Los sets de sellos / the stamp sets Somebunny I Love, Somebunny, Magical Dragons & Class Act de / by My Favorite Things.
- almohadillas adhesivas finas / thin adhesive foam squares
- polvos de embossing dorados y platino (o los que más os gusten) para los sentimientos / gold and platinum embossing powder or whatever you chose to stamp your sentiments with
- un trozo de acetato de 12,5 x 12, 5 cm / a 5" x 5" piece of acetate
- un troquel en forma de nube (el mío es el segundo más pequeño de un viejo set llamado Jumbo Cloud Stax de Die-namics) / a cloud shaped die (mine is the second smallest die from an older set by Die-namics called Jumbo Cloud Stax
- un troquel de círculo pequeño (aprox. 3cm de diámetro) para crear la apertura para accionar el mecanismo / a small circle die (about 1" in diametre) to create the opening through which we can rotate the disk.
- 2 pequeños brads (encuadernadores) blancos. Yo no los tenía en blanco así que embossé unos plateados. / 2 small white brads (I didn't have any, so I heat embossed a couple of silver-colored ones)
Empezamos por cortar el disco. Si usamos un troquel con falso cosido como este de La Pareja Creativa, resulta mucho más fácil cortar el borde dentado...
Let's start by cutting the disk. If we use a circle die with a faux stitched border, like this one from LPC, it's a lot easier to cut the jagged border.
Simplemente cortamos el espacio entre costura y costura en forma de pico. Queda muy simétrico aunque no lo hagamos perfecto.
We just cut the space between the stitches in a triangle shape. The result is very symmetrical even if we don't do it perfectly.
El siguiente paso es planificar la colocación de nuestros elementos para que todo encaje bien. ¡Es muy importante asegurarse de que no se vayan a ver los elementos estampados del disco a través de la apertura que usaremos para rotar el mismo! En otras palabras la distancia B debe ser igual a o menor que A.
The next step is to plan the placement of our elements to make sure that everything fits. It's very important to check that the circular opening, that we will cut in order to be able to rotate the disk, is not too large, because the stamped elements would show through it. In other words distance B should be equal to or less than distance A.
Usé el troquel más grande del set Cuadrados cosidos de La Pareja Creativa para cortar un panel de acetato del mismo tamaño que el panel final. También hallé el centro del disco y lo marqué con una aguja, para ver que el brad no interfiriese en el diseño.
I die cut the panel out of acetate using the largest die from the set Stitched Rectangles by LPC. I also marked the center of the circle with a needle to see that the brad would not interfere in the design.
Cuando tenía los elementos colocados, los adherí con washitape al acetato y el acetato a mi panel de cartulina. Lo pasé por la troqueladora que me cortó las dos capas sin problema. Once I was happy, I adhered the dies to the acetate and the acetate to my die cut 5" x 5" panel with washitape and rolled it through my Big Shot. Most dies cut through thin acetate + cardstock with no problem.
¡Uf, la parte más complicada ya pasó! Ahora falta lo más divertido... estampar los elementos. Adherí el disco al panel con un poco de washitape (por detrás) y perforé el panel para marcar el lugar de colocación del brad principal.
Phew, the hardest part is over! Now to the fun stuff... stamping the elements! I adhered the disk to the panel, with washitape (on the back) and pricked a hole through the panel to mark the placement of the brad.
Estampé el primer sentimiento del set Magical Dragons a través de la nube...
I stamped the first sentiment from the Magical Dragons set through the cloud...
...y tracé el contorno de la nube con un lápiz.
...and traced the outline of the cloud with a pencil.
Así resultaba más fácil estampar el resto de los elementos.
This way I could easily tamp the rest of the elements.
Es importante no olvidarse de borrar todas las líneas de lápiz.
Don't forget to erase all the pencil lines!
Aquí tengo todos los elementos de la tarjeta listos para ensamblar... bueno, falta la base de la tarjeta que era de 12,5 cm x 25 cm.
Here are all the elements of the card ready for assembly... oh wait, the 5" x 10" card base is missing from the picture.
Después de adherir todo, el último paso es añadir almohadillas adhesivas en el panel de la tarjeta de tal manera que no interfieran con el mecanismo.
After adhering everything, the last step is to add some adhesive foam squares in a way that they don't interfere with the mechanism.
