Diseñadora invitada en Waffle Flower - Guest designer at Waffle Flower

Today I'm back with another surprise... I won my first card challenge in the US, the Waffle Flower December challenge! The truth is that only nine persons participated, but nevertheless I was very excited. Besides being able to chose a set of stamps as a prize, the girls at Waffle Flower invited me to create an inspiration project for their February challenge...

Here's the card that I made and I'll explain what the challenge is about in a moment:

In order to participate in the Waffle Flower challenges you have to use at least one of their products as well as the technique of the month. You can also draw inspiration from the provided palette or sketch if you want to.

The technique of the month of February is inlaid die cutting. I love this technique! Here's a tutorial if you don't know what it is.

Here's the palette of the month (as you can see I've used the first two colours in my card):

Lastly, to inspire us further, here's the sketch of the month:

Follow me to the Waffle Flower blog to see my card next to the projects of the DT. See you soon!

I have to confess something... washitape is really not my thing... I love seeing it in different projects, but I find it difficult to use in a unique way. For challenge number 54 at 3flowers, they asked us to make a card with this japanese tape and here's mine:

I took advantage of the challenge to make a baby card for Alba, a precious little girl who was born in November. I also gave her this wooden suitcase, that I decorated with papers from Echo Park Paper, filled with clothes:

Let's have another look at the card with its washitape and other elements...

I die cut the card panel (Neenah cardstock) using two dies by Mama Elephant and although I've had them since Black Friday, I hadn't used them until now. The bow was cut out of washitape with another die from the same set.

The pink puffy sticker letters are from Heidi Swapp and for the beautiful sentiment ("May the stars light your way") I gold embossed a stamp from the set "Contando estrellas" by Gigi et Moi. I have no idea who made the washi tapes that I used...

Alba's mother liked the card and I hope you do too... Please visit the 3flowers blog to see the wonderful cards of their DT and the surprising designs of the participants in the challenge. Have a nice Sunday! On Monday at 13:00 Spanish time, I will be back with a special blog entry... see you then ^_^

I'm finally back at the blog after a break of 18 days... the truth is that I have been busy preparing quite a few projects, but I can't show them to you until February ;) It will be a really special month for me...

Today I'm showing you a picture frame that I decorated for Mencía, a baby girl that will be born soon.

The frame is painted with a couple of layers of La Pajarita "Chalk paint" (the tone is called "Sweet cream"). I've decorated the wooden letters by Docrafts with different paper scraps using the decoupage technique, which I love. Each letter has three layers of Glue n' seal protective coating.

I've coloured the veneer embellishments by Artemio with markers and inks. I didn't want them to stand out too much so that the unique and beautiful name of the baby girl would be perfectly readable.

¡Estas maderitas son adorables!
Aren't these embellishments adorable?

I borrowed a picture of my nephew to show you how great the frame looks with a photo inside ^_^

Me alegro mucho de estar de vuelta... ¡Hasta pronto!
I 'm so happy to be back... see you soon!

¿Tarjeta ochentera? - An eighties-style card?

This is the first time that I participate in one of the Runway Inspired challenges and I do so with an... eighties style card. At least it reminds me of the famous TV-series "Miami Vice" starring Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas.

For the Runway Inspired Challenge #89 you have to create a project inspired by this beautiful dress by the young designer Christian Siriano:

Isn't it just stunning? As you can see I was mainly inspired by the black, white and grey strips that I first placed horizontally with the inlay technique, but then decided to turn 90 degrees. I also added a golden strip to give the design a bit more "glamour".

I was finally able to use mi flamingo die from Echo Park Paper for a project... The patterned paper that you can see behind the bird is from the collection "Serendipity" by American Crafts and displays many of the colours from the background of this challenge's inspiration picture.

I embossed the stamp by Personal Mark (Live, Dream, Love, Laugh) in gold and love the result. A couple of sequins to embellish the card and that's it. See you next time!

P.S. With this card I also participate in the solidary challenge at 3flowers because it almost fits the required 6,6" x 6,6" size and has a really positive sentiment.

A few days ago I commented on the fact that May must be an ideal month to open a blog, since many of my favorite blogs are celebrating their blogoversaries... one of these blogs is "My Sweet Things".

Behind the sweet name is Mireia Flores and even though I don't know her personally, you can just tell that she is a sweet person by her smile, the affectionate way that she writes about her family and co-workers, by her lovely projects and the comments that she leaves in our blogs.

Mireia is very creative... I first came in contact with her layouts and got to know her work because she's part of the DT at Locas por el scrap (she's also a DT member at Yoy Scrap and Scrap to Dream), but she can also bake a personalized cake, or make a minialbum, or some awesome home decor. After only a year in the blogosphere she's very successful.

To celebrate the first blogoversary of My Sweet Things, Mireia has asked us to make a project using the colors of her logo, which you'll see in a moment... Here's my layout:

I've made a sweet layout filled with things that she likes... a bit of mixed media, feathers, vellum, glitter, etc.

The title "A very sweet year" refers to both the name of her blog as well as to the success that she's enjoying...

Besides including her human loved ones Moises and Lucia, I've included a reference to the canine family members, Rufo and Nuca.

I had never before used rub-ons in a scrap project, but I couldn't resist these gold ones from Pink-Fresh...

Here's the color palette that we had to use:

y aquí un último vistazo a mi layout:
and here's a final look at my layout:

I hope you like it and I especially hope that Mireia does... Have a nice weekend and "see" you soon!

Layout rosa "Mi primer diente" - Pink "My first tooth" layout

The idea was to submit this layout for the challenge on Kimidori's blog, a new cool scrapbooking store, but I was too late, so I included it in the Simon Says Stamp blog's "Anything goes" Wednesday Challenge in stead.

I love this die by Cuttlebug. It's very versatile since it allows you to cut and color the elements exactly like you want them. For this LO I die cut the baby from white cardstock and colored it with Tattered Rose Distress ink (for the skin) and Prima's "Vintage Pink" chalk ink for the pajamas.

I also cut the mouth of the baby leaving a tiny tooth that I colored with a white gel paint. On the back side of the baby's head I glued a small piece of black paper to make the tooth really stand out.

Lastly I cut a small toothbrush out of white cardstock, inked it with pigment ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.

Since I din't have any suitable letters, I sanded the red letters from BoBunny's "Head over Heels" collection, inked them with pink chalk ink and covered them with Glossy Accents.

I'm not really a fan of pink, but I really like the result... See you next time!
